Bill of supply vs tax invoice
A tax invoice shows GST charged to the customer. A bill of supply shows no tax: the composition dealer pays tax out of their own pocket at a fixed rate and must not collect it from buyers. Composition dealers also print 'composition taxable person, not eligible to collect tax on supplies' on the bill.
Fields in a bill of supply
- Supplier name, address and GSTIN
- Serial number and date
- Customer details and GSTIN if registered
- HSN/SAC code, description, quantity and value of each item
- Signature
Set the GST rate on each item to 0% so no tax lines are printed, and add the composition note under Terms & Conditions.
